overview—what you do

The Copywriter Supervisor's primary responsibilities are 1) to effectively interpret client needs to conceptualize campaigns and execute a range of advertising and marketing collateral aimed at professional and consumer audiences, and 2) to serve as a brand steward who helps ensure the highest quality creative product. This position serves as supervisory support to the creative team under the direction of ACD, Copy. They are hands on, both developing creative themselves, while also supporting and mentoring other creative staff.

  • Provides day-to-day supervisory support with an increased level of individual contributions to our service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company.

  • Independently creates fresh, intelligent, and intriguing copy that aligns with brand and/or campaign style guidelines and meets or exceeds client and agency standards.

  • Develop content and recommend creative solutions for a broad range of print and digital materials, from initial concept to final file release.

  • May assist in the mentorship and supervision of other creative team members to foster their professional growth and empower the team to work as efficiently and effectively as possible.

  • Collaborates with various departments (Creative, Project Management, Strategy and Client Services) to manage (department) expectations and build trusted relationships.

  • Recommends improvements to software, tools, and processes that will aid in creative quality and eliminate inefficiencies.

  • Can present strategic recommendations, tactical planning, and creative problem-solving to senior managers to further dept goals, objectives, efficiencies.

  • Identifies the need for, engages, directs and reviews the work of additional creatives, including vendors.

  • Maintains the consistency of brands across all marketing materials within a book of business, individual and art team accounts.

  • Researches and gains an understanding of the animal healthcare industry and clients’ business/products to independently drive strategic recommendations, tactical planning, and executions that further the client’s goals and objectives.

  • Partners with the art team to ensure that content and visuals work cohesively.

  • Understands and owns the data for assigned brands, including competitive insights.

  • Demonstrates effective presentation skills internally and externally to showcase great work.

  • Analyzes the quality and completeness of source material.

  • Formats references according to AMA style.

  • Proactively manages reference and source materials, including preparing materials for client review.

  • Ensures copy meets all legal, medical, regulatory compliance, and brand style requirements.

  • Inform and track estimates, budgets, and timelines as required.

  • Recommend improvements to software, tools, and processes that will aid in creative quality and enhance efficiency.

  • May oversee the work of junior and freelance staff.

  • Keeps up to date on skills, client, and industry trends.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent relative experience.

  • Several years relevant experience in an advertising/digital agency.

  • Established success as a Senior Copywriter as evidenced by an exceptional portfolio, including outstanding conceptual thinking and problem solving and strong digital experience.

  • Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to understand and write about complex technical and/or scientific information.

  • Self-starter who is comfortable with gathering all the information as needed to take on assignments.

  • Solid research and referencing skills, and knowledge of AMA style.

  • An understanding of how to use copy style guides.

  • Solid, demonstrated understanding of integrated marketing and advertising communications and how to optimize within an overall creative and content strategy.

  • Proficient in Mac/PC operating system and industry standard software.

  • Strong relationship skills; experience communicating directly with clients.

  • Flexible and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good judgment, and good decision-making, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Desire/ability to learn new methods, techniques, skills, and software as required to further knowledge and expertise.

  • Proactive, well organized, team player/working supervisor, who serves as a resource and mentor to others, and makes recommendations to the senior management team.

travel—where you might go

Circa has a flex remote policy in which we ask employees to be flexible with us and make the most of the opportunities we create to be together. Employees are encouraged to come into the office for key meetings, at their manager’s request, and for engagement events (outlined in Handbook). We are headquartered in PA, and the majority of our workforce lives in the Eastern Standard time zone. We require that employees, wherever they may live, be available during East coast business hours as their standard business day.

  

physical requirements—how hard can it be?

This job operates in a professional office environment with a flex remote option. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The job is sedentary work and involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. You may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
