Sorathan (Tum) Chaturapruek has a diverse work experience in quantitative research, data science, and software engineering. Sorathan (Tum) started their career as a Student Researcher at UCLA, where they worked on crime modeling with Levy flights. Sorathan (Tum) then gained experience as a Software Developer at Starfish Enterprises, LLC, focusing on educational geometric game software development.

Sorathan joined Budapest Semesters in Mathematics at Budapest University of Technology and Economics as a Student Researcher, working on spectral clustering of networks. Sorathan (Tum) also worked as a Search Team Software Engineering Intern at Yelp, where they designed and implemented a workflow for the business match service.

Sorathan pursued a Computer Science PhD at Stanford University and completed it in 2020. During their time at Stanford, they worked as a Quantitative Researcher at Citadel Securities, specializing in algorithmic trading. Sorathan (Tum) Chaturapruek's education history begins in 2010 when they enrolled at Harvey Mudd College to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. During their time there, they pursued a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science, which they completed in 2014.

In 2013, Sorathan briefly studied at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where they gained a BS in Computer Software Engineering.

Sorathan then went on to join Stanford University in 2014 to continue their education. Sorathan (Tum) first pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science, which they completed in 2019. Following that, they embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy program in Computer Science, which they completed in 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Sorathan also obtained several certifications. In 2012, they completed courses in Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1, Machine Learning, and Automata through Coursera.
