Retired From Public Service at City of Arroyo Grande

Jim Bergman is a dedicated public service professional with over 30 years of experience in various roles, including paramedic, City and Regional Planner, Department Director, and City Manager. As of May 2017, Jim has served as the City Manager of Arroyo Grande, focusing on the organization's values of Pride, Service, Professionalism, Teamwork, and Commitment. Prior to this position, Jim held the role of Planning & Building Director for the County of San Luis Obispo and Community Development Director for the Town of Windsor. Jim's early career included significant achievements at the City of Arroyo Grande, advancing through positions such as Planning Intern, Assistant Planner, Associate Planner, and Planning Manager. Jim holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Chico. Following retirement, Jim is pursuing passions in teaching, researching, and creating.
