John Heneghan is an experienced professional with a career spanning over three decades in hazardous materials safety and public service. Currently serving as the Regional Director at the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) since September 1992, John oversees field operations and the Hazmat inspection and enforcement program across eight states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Previously acted as Senior Director for Field Operations, advising on transportation safety matters. Prior experience includes a role as a Hazardous Material Enforcement Specialist, inspecting major chemical companies and conducting training for UN-approved testing laboratories. In addition to federal service, John has been a City Councilman for Dunwoody, Georgia, since the city's incorporation in 2008. John holds a BA in Public Administration from Roosevelt University and has pursued executive education in leadership at prominent institutions including Harvard Kennedy School and Loyola University Chicago.
