Abel Avalos

Abel Avalos has a diverse work experience in various positions related to community development and project management. Abel started their career as an Operations/Staff Analyst at the City of Anaheim in 1996 and worked as a Project Manager from 1998 to 2001. Abel then joined John Laing Homes as a Land Acquisition Manager from 2001 to 2005. After that, they worked at the City of Anaheim as a Redevelopment Manager from 2005 to 2012. Following this, they held the position of Community Development Director at the City of Bell Gardens from 2012 to 2019, and currently, they are the Community Development Director at the City of Lakewood, CA since 2019.

Abel Avalos earned a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach, between 1989 and 1993. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's Degree in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, graduating between 1993 and 1995.
