Lauren Sugayan currently serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Martinez, overseeing Budget, Human Resources, and Information Technology since October 2021. Previously, Lauren held the position of Deputy City Manager, managing various departments including city clerk, recreation, senior services, economic development, communications, homelessness, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Prior roles include Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Union City, where strategic planning and communications were primary responsibilities, and Communications & Strategic Plan Manager for the City of Hayward. Lauren began career advancements at BART as Community Policing Coordinator, focusing on government and community affairs related to public safety. Educational qualifications include an Executive Education in Public Leadership from Harvard Kennedy School, a Master of Public Administration from California State University - East Bay, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the same institution.
