Tegan McLane has a diverse work experience in the field of arts, culture, and community engagement. Tegan started their career as a Reporter at the San Jose Business Journal from 1990 to 1992. Tegan then joined Ballet San Jose, where they worked as a Production Coordinator from 1992 to 1994, Assistant to the Executive Director from 1995 to 1996, and eventually became the Community Relations Manager.
In 1998, Tegan joined Children's Musical Theater San Jose as the Marketing & Programs Director, where they focused on marketing, online presence, and community outreach for one of the nation's largest youth theater companies. Tegan also developed and managed an award-winning online program that involved collaborations with professional composers and authors to write full-length musicals.
Moving on, Tegan joined the City of Sunnyvale in 2004 as a Community Services Manager, specifically overseeing the Arts & Marketing division. Tegan managed the operations and programs of the Performing Arts Center and Creative Arts Center, including the public art program and the Hands on the Arts youth arts festival.
In 2015, Tegan took on the role of Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager at the City of Dublin, CA. Here, they oversaw the operations of the Heritage Park & Museums, organized various events such as the St. Patrick's Day Festival and Splatter art festival, and managed the Cultural Arts division, which involved the Public Art program and recreation programs.
Currently, Tegan holds the position of Assistant Director of Recreation & Community Services at the City of Milpitas since 2019. Tegan'sresponsibilities include oversight of marketing and communications, arts programs, community engagement, operational efficiencies, budgeting, and grant management. Tegan also serves as the liaison for the Arts Commission and manages the Milpitas Art and Culture Grants.
Tegan McLane completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from San Jose State University from 1985 to 1988. Afterward, McLane pursued a Master's degree in Journalism from Ohio University between 1988 and 1990, which was successfully completed in 1994.
