Miriam Vaughn-Lee has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Miriam started their career as an English Teacher at Lincoln Jr. High and West High from 1967 to 1978. Miriam then joined Target (formerly Dayton-Hudson Corporation) where they held the position of Manager, Employee Placement and Development. Their responsibilities at Target included recruitment, selection and placement, as well as employee development and employee relations programs. Miriam also served as an Employee Relations Specialist, developing and implementing affirmative action plans and strategies for eight operating companies and the corporate staff.
In 1986, Miriam founded their own company called Vaughn-Lee and Associates (VLA), a Human Resources Consulting Firm. As the President of VLA, they specialized in helping clients link productivity to sound human resources management through developing and delivering training programs related to effective supervision, diversity and inclusion, performance management, motivation, and communication. VLA also provided management and employee coaching, needs assessments, and other HR-related activities. Miriam held this position until 2005 when they transitioned to their role as Director, Employment, Development and Diversity at the City of Minneapolis. In this position, they were responsible for employment services, strategic diversity, regulatory compliance, job bank, and training and development.
Miriam Vaughn-Lee completed their course work in Curriculum and Instruction at Minnesota State University, Mankato, from 1982 to 1984. Prior to that, from 1962 to 1966, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Morris Brown College.
