Alejandro Tirado

Alejandro Tirado, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as President of the Rhode Island Municipal Purchasing Agents Association (RIMPAA) since 2023. Prior to this, they held positions at the City of Providence, including Director of Purchasing and Associate Director of Purchasing, where they oversaw large procurement processes and implemented diversity initiatives. Alejandro also worked as a Business Development Analyst at the City of Providence, where they conducted research projects and obtained grants. At the Rhode Island School of Design, they served as an Instructor and developed new courses related to politics and media. Dr. Tirado has also worked as a Data Research Analyst at DataSpark, an Agent at New York Life Insurance Company, and a Researcher at the Latino Policy Institute at Roger Williams University. Alejandro has teaching experience at Roger Williams University and Texas Tech University, where they designed and taught courses and coordinated guest speaker visits. Additionally, they gained research and teaching experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas. Overall, Dr. Tirado has a strong background in procurement, research, teaching, and diversity initiatives.

Alejandro Tirado, Ph.D., received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 1998. In 1997, they also completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from California State University, Long Beach. Alejandro went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Economics at the Universidad de Guadalajara, which they completed in 2001.

In 2007, Alejandro began their doctoral studies at The University of Texas at Dallas, specializing in Political Economy and Public Policy. Alejandro successfully earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in this field in 2012.

Continuing their academic journey, Alejandro pursued a second doctorate degree at the Central European University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Policy and Political Economy. The exact completion date of this degree is not specified.

Apart from their formal education, Alejandro Tirado also holds a Specialization Certificate in Construction Procurement, which they obtained in May 2022 from Badgr (now part of Instructure).
