Shawn Yonker

Shawn Yonker currently serves as the Director of Communications for the City of Salisbury, Maryland, since September 2023. With extensive experience in sports journalism and communication, Shawn has worked as a Freelance Writer and Editor in the Eastern Shore Region since July 2009, contributing to outlets such as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Independent Newspapers Inc. Previous roles include Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Media Relations at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Senior Sports Writer/Columnist at Gannett Newspapers, and Corporate Communications Coordinator at Perdue Farms. Shawn also has teaching experience as an adjunct professor of communications at Salisbury University. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University and an Associate's degree in General Studies from Allegany College of Maryland.
