DaVonna Johnson has a diverse work experience in various organizations. DaVonna started their career in 1997 as a Community Relations Manager at Barnes & Noble, where they developed and implemented a strategic plan for the Community Relations Outreach Program. DaVonna then moved on to the City of Seattle - Department of Neighborhoods in 1999, where they managed the City of Seattle Customer Service program. In 2004, they joined Seattle City Light as an Assistant to the Superintendent, acting as a liaison between the Superintendent and various city departments and agencies. DaVonna later became the Talent Acquisition and Development Manager before eventually being promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer in August 2008.

DaVonna Johnson holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Washington State University's College of Business and Economics, which they completed in 1998. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the same institution, graduating in 1994.
