Shelley Kile has had a diverse work experience over the years. Shelley began their career in 1996 as a Marketing Manager at Massanutten Regional Library, where they worked until 1999. After that, they worked as the Director of the National Center for Professional Development at James Madison University for a brief period. In 2000, Shelley joined the Lightstone Foundation, Inc. as a Program Manager for about a year.
From 2002 to 2003, they worked as a Compliance Officer at Hampshire County Planning Commission. Following that, they became the Executive Director at Pendleton County Economic & Community Development Authority and served in that role until 2006. During this time, starting in 2006, they also owned their own photography business called Sartori Photography until 2011.
In 2007, Shelley became a Marketing Coordinator at Columbia Analytical Services and stayed with the company until 2011 when they transitioned to the role of Marketing Coordinator at ALS Environmental, where they worked until 2012. And finally, since 2012, Shelley has been working as the Communications and Tourism Director at the City of Sumter.
Shelley Kile holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism-Advertising from West Virginia University, which they obtained from 1991 to 1995. Shelley later pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management at Troy University, which they completed from 2016 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications, including Public Information in an All-Hazards Incident from Texas A&M University in September 2013, FEMA Certified Floodplain Management from FEMA in April 2002, and CORE FOUR® Business Planning Trainer from Entrepreneur Fund in March 2001.
