Kevin Garcia is a seasoned urban planner with extensive experience in municipal planning and zoning administration. Currently serving as the Principal Planner and Zoning Administrator for the City of Urbana, Illinois, Kevin leads a team of city planners and oversees the processing of planning and zoning cases. Prior roles include Planner II, where responsibilities encompassed bike and pedestrian planning and historic preservation, and Data Resources Planner at the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission, contributing to an award-winning comprehensive regional plan. Kevin's background also includes research on transportation issues as a Research Assistant at the Metropolitan Planning Council and a Community Development Intern in Schaumburg, where skills in GIS mapping were developed. Kevin holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Illinois State University.
