Balaji Narayanan

Balaji Narayanan has extensive work experience in various engineering and management roles. Balaji is currently working as the Senior Director of Engineering, Infrastructure at Clari since April 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Pinterest as an Engineering Manager, Site Reliability from August 2016 to March 2021.

Before joining Pinterest, Balaji was at Yahoo where they held multiple positions. Balaji worked as a Senior Principal Engineer, Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) from May 2014 to July 2016, where they played a key role in building and scaling Yahoo's internal IaaS offering. Balaji also served as a Principal Engineer II, Big Data (Hadoop) from April 2012 to April 2014, where they were responsible for capacity planning and management of compute resources across clusters. Additionally, they worked as an Architect for Advertiser Products from November 2009 to March 2012, leading the architecture and design of the Sponsored Search Migration from Yahoo! to Microsoft. Balaji started their journey at Yahoo as an Engineering Manager for Membership/YOS/Geo Platforms in Bangalore, where they managed a team responsible for 12x7 support, platform maintenance, and key deliverables for Yahoo's internal platforms from an unknown start date to October 2009.

Before Yahoo, Balaji worked at Honeywell as a Principal Engineer from June 2003 to October 2005. There, they implemented an intranet portal and the corporate internet site using IBM WebSphere and TIBCO Portal Builder.

Prior to Honeywell, Balaji worked at Wipro Technologies as a Senior Systems Engineer from March 2001 to June 2003. During their time there, they focused on server installation, configuration, maintenance, and setup of a Radio Access Configurator (RAC) Lab for Nokia's offshore development center.

Balaji's early career includes working at Asea Brown Boveri as a Systems Engineer from July 1998 to February 2001. Balaji'sresponsibilities included designing and implementing a Load Rack Computer (LRC) and developing process control software for Indian Oil Corporation's crude processing units.

Balaji Narayanan completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Institute of Road and Transport Technology, which they attended from 1994 to 1998. In addition to their formal education, they obtained two certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) from Scrum Alliance in June 2023 and Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) from Scrum Alliance in March 2023.
