The role:

As a Senior Legal Counsel in the legal team, you will be supporting the HUB24 business, focusing on financial services law, contract law and superannuation law. The role is both a transactional and advice role – noting there is a lot of contract work and contract negotiation.

We are looking for someone who thrives off a collaborative environment, has high level technical skills combined with commercial acumen. This role will partner with commercial stakeholders at all levels and work with them to provide sound legal advice and guidance.   The successful candidate will hit the ground running and be able to work autonomously within a team environment. They will also enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and make things happen. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Advising on a broad range of matters including Financial services law, with a focus on investments, investor directed portfolio service, superannuation and managed funds. contract law, general commercial and corporate law, Privacy, data security and technology, cyber security, commercial disputes and regulatory inquiries and investigations.
  • Participation in commercial transactions and providing legal services on those transactions and/or managing external legal service providers.
  • Structuring, drafting and leading negotiations on a variety of commercial contracts
  • Law reform and regulatory compliance, as required.
  • Legal and regulatory risk management.
  • Legal budget management (internal and external) and time to time board reporting.

Key requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years’ post qualification experience across financial services and and corporate law disciplines.  Top-tier/mid-tier law firm and transactional experience highly valued.
  • Experience working in the areas of data, technology and privacy is highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Excellent influencing skills, including with senior stakeholders and an ability to create and build effective working relationships with colleagues, business and functional teams.
  • Strong experience reviewing and drafting a range of contractual documents and legal correspondence.
  • Flexible and willing to apply your skills to products, issues and legislation, in which they may not have had previous experience.
  • Strong time management skills, practical solutions focus and history of providing excellent customer service.
  • Great team spirit and enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to broader legal team and business initiatives.
