The Independent Solar Engineer will provide owners engineering support, technical due diligence and design support services for solar energy projects pre- and post-construction. The candidate shall possess a wide range of experience and understanding in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, & repair of commercial and utility scale solar PV & energy storage systems.
What You'll Do:
Pre-Construction Responsibilities:
Conduct technical due diligence
Perform independent engineering reviews
Create PVSyst and energy models
Conduct performance analysis and reporting
Participate in partial design tasks
Review drawings, reports, and contracts
Create punch lists and progress reports
Interface with project owners/stakeholders to assess technical and financial risks
Determine financial impact on performance or cost to remedy
Construction Responsibilities:
Collaborate with installers/contractors to ensure understanding of problems and solutions
Conduct on-site activities for technical due diligence
Perform visual inspections for workmanship, code compliance, and best practices
Commission, inspect, and test equipment performance
Conduct construction monitoring site visits
Report on quality control (QC) issues
Provide updates on overall progress of construction
What You'll Need:
5+ years’ experience in Solar PV engineering or construction.
Engineering Degree or journeyman/master electrician certification
Authorized Electrical Engineer preferred
Understanding relevant EU country specific codes
Able to take highly technical issues and communicate them in a manner that can be understood by non-technical clients
Ability to travel around Europe and beyond for short periods of time
Have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
