Kate Yi Lu has a diverse range of work experience in the design industry. From 2021 to present, they have been the Experience Design Director at ClearPoint, where they have established and led the Product Design, Design Research, and Experience Design practice areas. Kate Yi is responsible for managing pipelines and resources, go-to-market strategies, professional development of direct reports, DesignOps, and advocating for human-centered design at all levels. Kate Yi has successfully led and delivered meaningful work for key accounts such as The Warehouse Group, CDX (Countdown), Contact Energy, and Waka Kotahi (NZ Transport Agent).

Prior to their role at ClearPoint, Kate worked at Digital Arts Network New Zealand from 2015 to 2021. Kate Yi started as an Associate Director, contributing to RFPs for new business opportunities and providing design direction through design critiques. Kate Yi later became a Senior Experience Strategist, acting as the UX Lead for the first Agile tribe at ANZ Bank New Zealand. Kate Yi focused on the high-profile Home Lending product and successfully established human-centered design practices within a tribe of over 100 engineers, designers, and product managers. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Experience Designer at Digital Arts Network, where they crafted customer experiences for digitally-led channels using HCD methods and executed various projects such as Service Design, Content Strategy, and Product Design.

Before joining Digital Arts Network, Kate had brief roles at Clemenger BBDO as a Senior UX Designer, at Tailor as a Senior Digital Designer, and at Marker as a Lead Designer, Senior Interaction Designer, and Designer. Kate Yi also began their career with a Graphic Design Internship at Ogilvy in 2006.

Overall, Kate has a strong background in experience design, with a focus on using human-centered design practices to deliver meaningful and impactful work for key clients in various industries.

Kate Yi Lu has a Bachelor of Design from Auckland University of Technology. In addition to their degree, they have obtained certifications in "Storytelling for Influence" from IDEO U in July 2022 and in the "Women Rising Program" from Women Rising in February 2022.
