Luvelyn is a structural engineering principal in Coffman’s San Diego office. Her experience includes research & development/life science facilities and campuses, commercial office buildings, medical office buildings, and manufacturing facilities. She has extensive experience conducting structural evaluations of existing buildings, seismic retrofits, and renovations. She is well-versed in seismic force resisting systems, steel, tilt-up concrete, and masonry construction.
Luvelyn is instrumental in professional mentoring and provides training for Coffman’s young engineers on structural design and best practices for client support. She was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Women of Influence in Engineering” by the San Diego Business Journal in 2021 and 2022.
Her influence extends to the greater AEC community. She served on the SEAOSD Board of Directors for three years and is involved in various committees. As the chair of the SEAOSD SE3 (Structural Engineering Engagement & Equity) Committee, she increased awareness and improved employee engagement, equity, and retention within the structural engineering profession. She supported the ACE Mentorship Program and was on the ARCE Advisory Committee at her alma mater, Cal Poly SLO, from 2013-2016.
Luvelyn graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and is a licensed structural and civil engineer in California. Luvelyn joined Coffman as part of the merger with Hope Amundson.
