Ilana Belzar

Ilana Belzar is the current Chief Operations Officer at CollPlant. Prior to their current position, they served as the COO at BioHarvest from October 2012 to October 2015. Ilana is a senior member of management and is responsible for all operations activities, including process development, production, packaging, maintenance, logistics, and sub-contractors. Ilana is also responsible for work plans, budgets, projects, and their execution.

Ilana has extensive experience in process development and operations. Ilana has successfully scaled up production processes from lab scale to industrial scale bioreactors and optimized them to maximize productivity, yield, and product quality. Ilana has also led the planning, design, and construction of a new production facility. In their role as COO at BioHarvest, Ilana was responsible for the management of a multidisciplinary team and the industrial scale production of a novel biotechnology product from raw materials up to the final packed product ready for marketing. Ilana successfully implemented ISO 9001, ISO 22000, GMP, MOH, and FDA regulatory requirements.

Ilana has also been heavily involved in marketing and business development initiatives. Ilana has worked closely with the marketing team to develop marketing and supply plans. Ilana is experienced in preparing and bringing products to market following regulatory and marketing requirements. Ilana has developed supply chains from production to fulfillment and has supported the development of marketing documentation packages.

Some of Ilana's main achievements include significantly improving product quality, productivity, and yield; successfully scaling up production processes and increasing production capacity by 20 fold while improving product quality and reducing COGS; and developing final product packaging concepts, producing packaging materials, and getting the product packed and ready for marketing in 4 months.

Ilana Belzar received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Life Sciences- Cell Biology and Biochemistry from Tel Aviv University. Ilana also holds a degree from Tel-Aviv University in Gimnasia Herzelia.

Ilana Belzar reports to Yehiel Tal, CEO. They are on a team with Oded Shoseyov - Founder & Chief Scientific Officer, Philippe Bensimon - VP, Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance, and Michal Roytman - VP, Sales & Marketing.
