Fernando Vega has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Fernando co-founded and served as the CEO of Colmakers, a company focused on empowering children, parents, and educators in learning, coding, and creativity through robots. Additionally, Fernando worked as a Software Engineering Consultant at GE Ventures, where they developed a Marketplace Healthcare Platform for iDX, one of their spinoffs. At The Linux Foundation, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer, building an internal web platform for managing open-source projects. Prior to that, Fernando was a Mechatronics Engineer at Intellectual Ventures, where they developed and built products based on the company's inventions. Fernando was also a co-founder of Weaver, a startup aimed at increasing children's exposure to engineering concepts through an easy-to-program robotic toy. In this role, Fernando was responsible for leading development and hardware engineering, as well as conducting robotic workshops.
Fernando Vega obtained their Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Commerce with a focus on Business/Commerce from the University of Sydney, where they completed their studies in 2013.
