John Whitehurst

John Whitehurst is the General Manager of Building Service and Special Projects in the Hampton Roads market. He began his career with ColonialWebb in 1999 as an HVAC and Refrigeration Technician. His love for the trade and his drive have pushed him forward with the company. With a significant focus on customer service and a passion for developing his teammates, John is proud of the Hampton Roads business and its many successes.

In 1991, John was introduced to the “trades” while working with a wholesale supplier, allowing him to become connected with many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. During this time, he was provided with more in-depth knowledge of the manufacturer’s equipment and allowed to learn side-by-side with large manufacturers. John also attended Tidewater Community College, where he studied Business Administration. Then, while working for a local service contractor, learning about refrigeration and building automation, he discovered his true passion was for the “trades” and he has never looked back. John believes there’s a bright future for skilled tradespeople and is seeing interest in trade and vocational schools increasing.
