Job description

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Associate Director of Integrated Behavioral Health provides administrative and clinical support and training for the BHP I/II staff; provides direct clinical services to clients (as outlined in BHP II job description); completes special projects such as conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analysis for planning and forecasting purposes to contribute ideas towards improving BH workflow and access, assesses hiring patterns, and training needs of staff; and works closely with the Integrated Health Services Management team to strengthen and improve the overall integrated system of care for the CCH Integrated Health Centers. 

NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date.  The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance.  Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.

  • Provides administrative and clinical support and training for BHP I/II staff.  In collaboration with the Integrated Health Management Team, oversees coverage and supervision for the BHPs at all Integrated Health locations.
  • Works closely with the Integrated Health Services Management team to strengthen and improve the overall system of care for CCH Integrated Health.
  • Facilitates regular individual and/or group supervision for Behavioral Health Providers.
  • Develops and implements clinical IBH training including new hire training on Primary Care Behavioral Health practice through behavioral health content training such as motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, behavioral activation or DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and assessment principles.
  • Provides behavioral health services at CCH Integrated Health Centers or on an outreach basis and performs job duties of BHPI/II
  • Completes special projects such as conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analysis for planning and forecasting purposes to contribute ideas towards workflow, hiring patterns, or training needs as determined by the Director of Psychiatry, or the Integrated Health Management Team.
  • Meets with the Director of Psychiatry on a regular basis for administrative and clinical supervision, program planning and development.
  • Demonstrates respect, cultural competence and knowledge of trauma-informed care in interactions with patients, Coalition staff, and other community providers.
  • Conducts regular performance management reviews of Behavioral Health Providers.
  • Supervises unlicensed staff towards licensure, as appropriate under license.
  • Collaborates with staff across CCH to remove access barriers and to facilitate patient and family access to behavioral counseling and treatment.
  • In collaboration with other integrated managers and directors, facilitates resolution of inter-disciplinary issues, assists with scheduling and staff coverage, and contributes ideas to maintain an Integrated Care model within and across team suites and locations.
  • In collaboration with Quality Assurance Compliance staff, provides supervision to BHPs to assure both individual and departmental compliance for optimal quality of care and funding.
  • Champions EHR competency, training, and ongoing learning among IBH staff, in conjunction with the CCH Electronic Health Record (EHR) Trainer.  This includes:
  • ·    Recording all patient visits, completing charting, and submitting all billing codes for clients within a 48-hour period.
  • ·    Maintaining up to date records in EHR on all active clinical clients.
  • ·     Recording telephone and other clinical communications as needed in the EHR.
  • ·    Managing tasks, PAQs, and scanning as needed to have a complete and current chart.
  • ·   Maintaining accurate information regarding client insurance status and complete Medicaid authorizations, CCARs, DACODS, and other clinical authorizations to sustain funding and services.
  • ·   Utilizing the EHR and any future upgrades as directed.
  • ·   Maintaining a passing score (above 75%) in all QA compliance audits.
  • Attends designated CCH and community meetings to advocate for the clients we serve and the clinical staff providing care.
  • Investigates additional resources for clients and disseminates new information to team members.

  • Attends management meetings for CCH, SSHC and Behavioral Health as assigned (e.g. Full Management, Integrated Health Management Team, Behavioral Health Leadership and Core Team).
  • Functions as a resource and collaborator with other CCH behavioral health leaders.
  • In collaboration with the Safety Director, provides behavioral health consultation and assistance with safety management, training, and planning with other stakeholders for safety incidents at SSHC.  Coordinates and communicates with SSHC teams after safety events and maintains awareness of safety events and their effect upon front line staff members.
  • In collaboration with HR and the certified CPI trainers, provides safety and de-escalation skills training to staff and others, as assigned.
  • Participates as an active member of the CCH Employee Support Team and facilitates debriefing experiences for SSHC staff who request support immediately after a safety event and refers to EAP as appropriate.
  • Along with the Senior Director of BH Services, and BH Compliance Director, attends CBHAN meetings to develop relationships with other FQHC BH Directors for support, mutual benefit, advocacy, and networking in order to further the Integrated Health Care goals and outcomes of CCH.
  • Effectively leads and directs how the IBH team works with other IH teams to assure that grant requirements are met, and that special projects such as Zero Suicide succeed.
  • In collaboration with the Quality Assurance and Revenue Cycle Departments, manages and adjusts IBH workflows to enhance patient access to BH services, participates in BH Audits, and resolves IBH documentation and billing issues.
  • Champions the IBH internship experience at SSHC, cultivates future IBH job applicants by acting as the liaison to local LSW/LCSW/MSW programs, provides presentations upon request, and maintaining ongoing contacts at those programs.
  • With other IH leader, champions continually improved access to IBH services, with an emphasis on systems and process improvement, to meet productivity goals, to provide value-added visits to clients, and to assure judicious use of resources.
  • Manage and/or coordinate the IBH training modules for IBH BHPs at SSHC such as HTN, DM, and Nicotine Use Disorder, and be involved in updates, as necessary, for new IBH programming.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Summary 

  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field required.
  • Current Colorado licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPC required. Current Colorado licensure as a CAC II, CAC III or LAC/MAC strongly preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience interacting with patients in integrated health care, mental health care or substance use treatment settings required.
  • Previous supervisory/program management experience preferred.
