Greg Vines

Greg Vines has a varied and extensive work experience history. Greg most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer at Comcare starting in April 2023. Prior to that, Greg held a high-level position as the Deputy Director General at the International Labour Organization (ILO), Geneva, from October 2012 to April 2023. In this role, they were responsible for operational, governance, and programmatic policy planning and delivery, as well as representing the ILO across the United Nations and multilateral system.

Greg has also worked at the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, where they represented the Australian Government as a Minister (Labour) from 2009 to 2012. During their time in this role, they chaired the ILO Governing Body, leading negotiations and implementing reforms. Greg also facilitated multilateral and bilateral interactions with foreign governments, employers, unions, and UN agencies.

Additionally, Greg served as the Chair of the Timor Leste Civil Service Taskforce from 2008 to 2009, where they led the reform and development of public administration and represented the Prime Minister in development partner coordination management. Greg also worked at the State Services Authority Victoria, introducing ethics frameworks and overseeing employment policies for the Victorian Public Sector.

Greg's earlier career includes positions as Deputy Secretary at the Department of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development, State Services Commissioner for the Tasmanian Government, and Trade Union Leadership roles at the State Public Services Federation. Greg also served as an Employer Advocate at the State Electricity Commission of Victoria.
