Divya Shiroor

Associate Scientist at Conception

Divya Shiroor has a diverse work experience in scientific research and academia. Divya started their career as a Master's scholar at KNP College of Veterinary Science, where they focused on studying the differentiation potential of primary canine mesenchymal stem cells for stem cell therapy in dogs with osteoarthritis. During their time there, they also developed a scoring method to evaluate symptoms of canine osteoarthritis.

After completing their Master's, Divya joined the National Centre for Cell Science as a Project Student. Divya worked there for two years before pursuing a Ph.D. at Cornell University. As a Ph.D. student, Divya independently conducted research to characterize the effects of radiation on stem cells in vivo. Their work contributed to first-author publications and secured significant funding for the university. Divya also collaborated with other laboratories on a flow cytometry assay to quantify apoptosis in stem cells.

Following their Ph.D., Divya joined Cellular Longevity, Inc., dba Loyal as a Scientist Aging Biology. In this role, they led cross-company collaborations, conducted experimental execution, and analyzed data. Divya also developed assays using canine cells to test candidate drugs for cytotoxicity and potency, as well as assays using primary and immortalized cells to study tissue homeostasis and aging in vitro.

Most recently, Divya joined Conception as an Associate Scientist in 2023. Further details about their role at Conception are not provided.

Divya Shiroor has a strong education background with a focus on veterinary science and stem cell research. Divya obtained their Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from KNP College of Veterinary Science (MAFSU) between the years 2007 to 2012. Divya then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Veterinary Surgery from the same institution, completing it from 2012 to 2015. Divya Shiroor further advanced their academic journey by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Stem Cells from Cornell University, where they studied from 2015 to 2021. Prior to their higher education, Divya Shiroor attended St. Joseph's High School Pashan, although the specific dates of their attendance and any degrees or fields of study earned there are unknown.
