Yuan Liu

Yuan Liu is a seasoned Water Resources Specialist at Contra Costa Water District since May 2014, specializing in managing and translating complex water-related data into actionable insights, developing hydrodynamic and machine learning tools for water quality forecasting, and optimizing water supply operations through linear programming models. Significant achievements include assisting with the funding application for major projects such as the Los Vaqueros Expansion Project and the Contra Costa Canal Replacement. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin, where Yuan conducted field and laboratory experiments on gas migration and groundwater contamination risks, as well as a water resources internship at Contra Costa Water District focused on climate change impacts on water quality. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and master's and bachelor's degrees from Tsinghua University in Hydrology and Water Resources Science and Hydropower and Hydraulic Engineering, respectively.
