John C. Ames

John C. Ames has a diverse background in leadership and missionary work spanning several decades. Currently serving as the Converge Africa Impact Team Leader at Converge Worldwide since September 2017, John is a Regional Missionary Leader focused on Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to this role, John was the Lead Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church from January 2003 to September 2017, overseeing pastoral duties including preaching, teaching, mentoring, and shepherding. Earlier in the career, John worked as a Missionary Field Coordinator in the Ivory Coast for Baptist General Conference/Converge Worldwide from June 1985 to June 2001, where responsibilities included church planting and leadership training. Academic credentials include a Master of Divinity in Theology-Missions from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
