Charlie Appleton has a diverse work experience that spans multiple industries. Charlie started as an Intern at Bricks & Mortar Management in 2012, where they assisted with research and general administrative duties. In 2013, they interned with 6waves Games in Hong Kong, working with the business development team on various tasks. In 2014, Charlie interned again, this time with Asia Pacific Initiative, where they contributed to research papers and assisted with administrative work. Charlie then worked as Bar Staff at JD Wetherspoon for a brief period before joining Darktrace in 2016 as a Cyber Security Account Executive, responsible for protecting organizations against cyber threats. After three years, they moved on to Armor Communications Ltd as an Account Manager, providing secure communication solutions. Currently, Charlie is working at CultureAI as an Account Executive, helping fintech and SaaS companies improve cybersecurity behavior using data-driven interventions.

From 2015 to 2016, Charlie Appleton attended Durham University and earned a Master's Degree in International Relations, with a focus on East Asia.
Prior to that, from 2012 to 2015, Charlie attended Durham University as well and obtained a Bachelor's Degree. Their degree was in Politics, Philosophy & Economics, with a combined honors in Social Science.
Charlie's high school education took place from 2005 to 2012 at Island School in Hong Kong, where they pursued the International Baccalaureate.
In 2011, Charlie also briefly attended St. Alban's School for Public Service in Washington D.C. during the academic year, studying Public Service.
In addition to their formal education, Charlie obtained two additional certifications: "Information Security Culture and Human Risk Awareness" from CultureAI in April 2022, and "Oxford Cyber Security for Business Leaders" from edX in December 2021.
