Mabel Shehada

Mabel Shehada's work experience includes various positions in the fields of product development, engineering, research, and teaching. Mabel has worked as a Product Development Engineer at Curate Biosciences, where they focused on microfluidics. Prior to that, they served as a Microfluidics Intern at the same company.

Shehada has also worked at UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering as a Graduate Student Researcher, specializing in wearable electronics and nanotechnology. Additionally, they have been an IGE Technology Management Fellow, where they gained experience in technology management.

In terms of teaching experience, Shehada worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UC San Diego, assisting a professor in lectures and grading assignments related to light propagation in tissue and other optical concepts. Mabel also served as an Organic Chemistry Learning Assistant at the University of California, Riverside.

Furthermore, Shehada has pursued research opportunities, including being an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, Riverside, where they focused on pneumatic microfluidic chips and soft robotics. Mabel also conducted research at the university's GEMs laboratory, studying the application of synthetic biology for the production of biomaterials.

Shehada has gained industry experience through internships, such as their role as a Kulia Labs Intern at AMI-USC, where they specialized in hyperspectral imaging. Mabel also interned as a Medical Device Development Bootcamp Intern at Keck Graduate Institute, focusing on the design and development of a COVID-19 environmental screening system.

In addition, Shehada has been involved in scientific projects, serving as the Lead Scientist for a NASA L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy project, where they developed a Preliminary Design Report for an orbiter focused on mapping lunar ice in Permanently Shadowed Regions.

Earlier in their career, Shehada worked as an MRI Testing Assistant at Medical Technology Laboratories (MTL), assisting with MRI tests of implantable devices and conducting a study on the effects of magnetic fields on patient safety.

Overall, Mabel Shehada has gained extensive work experience in various scientific and engineering roles, demonstrating a strong background in research, development, teaching, and industry applications.

Mabel Shehada began their education at Troy High School, where they earned their High School Diploma from 2013 to 2017. Mabel then continued their academic journey at the University of California, Riverside from 2017 to 2021. There, they pursued a degree in Bioengineering with a focus on Biomedical/Medical Engineering, achieving a remarkable 3.85 GPA and graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Currently, Mabel is furthering their education at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, where they are pursuing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering with a Medical Specialization. This program spans from 2021 to 2023.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Mabel Shehada obtained a certification in Training Management from Greenlight Guru in September 2022.
