Elan Hamburger

Elan Hamburger has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. They started their career as a Software Engineering Intern at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in 2017, where they developed user interface and control software for FlexDAR phased array radar. They then worked as a Software Engineering Contractor at SparkPost in 2017-2018, playing a pivotal role in kick-starting code for a new Developer Hub website, resulting in increased visitors. Elan also interned as a Software Engineering Intern at Capital One in 2018, where they rewrote a Java Spring Boot application and redesigned it for AWS cloud environment.

In 2018, Elan served as the President of the Pi Sigma Epsilon - Eta Gamma Chapter, leading a professional business fraternity with 90 active members and overseeing recruitment, training, and professional development events. They also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Customer.io from 2023 onwards.

Elan's work experience also includes a role as a Lab Teaching Fellow at the Keystone Center at the University of Maryland from 2016 to 2019, where they guided students in designing and programming autonomous rovers and instructed them in 3D printing, fabrication, and circuit design. They also facilitated lectures on Arduino and C++ programming.

At Microsoft from 2019 to 2022, Elan had various roles including Software Engineer and Software Engineer II. They contributed to building rich parental control web interfaces, transitioned a website from Angular to React, and created core functionality for the Family Safety Windows widget as part of the Modern Life Experiences (MLX) team. Overall, Elan Hamburger has gained significant experience in software engineering, leadership, and teaching.

Elan Hamburger completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland from 2015 to 2019. Currently, from 2022 to 2024, Elan is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
