Job description

About Cybersyn

Cybersyn is a new DaaS (data-as-a-service) company, backed by Sequoia, Coatue, and Snowflake. Our mission is to make the world's economic data transparent to businesses and entrepreneurs and enable a new generation of decision makers. We acquire unique data assets (companies, licenses, data rights, consumer dividends) and build derived products on top of that, focusing on measuring what consumers and businesses are spending money on. You can think of Cybersyn as a cross between an investment firm and a technology company focused on data: if we are successful, we will disrupt the traditional market intelligence space. The reward is great - if we are successful, we can disrupt an industry worth $100Bs and build SimCity for the real world.

We have two businesses - consumer insights and public data. We have already released many datasets in the public data domain that we have cleaned, restructured and made joinable on Snowflake Marketplace.

About the role:

Cybersyn is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our data science team, contributing to our core company vision. Our focus is on developing products that merge multiple public and proprietary data sources to measure economic trends and consumer activity in near-real time. These products offer valuable insights for data-driven decisions, such as investment strategies, competitive intelligence, economic policies, across various industries.

What you will do:

  • Be a valuable member of the data science team responsible for designing and developing derivative data products.
  • Own the end-to-end process of planning and releasing customer-facing datasets, sold through the Snowflake Marketplace.
  • Leverage your business and customer instincts to develop intuitive data products.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to support go-to-market (GTM) strategies, including communicating customer use cases and assisting with demos.
  • Work with a variety of data sources to create derived data products that address business questions. This involves developing data pipelines using SQL and Python in dbt.

Who you are:

  • 4+ years of experience working in analytics engineering, data science, or other highly analytical, data-oriented roles.
  • Commercially-minded, pragmatic analytics engineer with a keen interest in core development of data products.
  • Proficient in SQL and dbt within a cloud data warehouse environment (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). Python (or R) experience is highly desirable.
  • Experienced in working with multiple external datasets, including cleaning, merging, and manipulating data.
  • Enjoy writing code and applying critical thinking to use data in solving real-world business problems across different industries.
  • Naturally curious, with a drive to understand the “why” behind data and an acute sense for identifying potential data quality issues.

What you get out of it:

  • Cybersyn is a data company; so as an Analytics Engineer, you will be “front-office” in helping build products that generate revenue directly.
  • Opportunity to influence Cybersyn’s product and technology decisions, and take ownership of product design methodologies.
  • Access to some of the most interesting data in the world, including real-time consumer spending data, user-level clickstream web traffic data, and other proprietary data sources exclusive to Cybersyn.
  • A fast-moving culture with substantial responsibility and autonomy from day one.
  • Collaborate and learn from a very dynamic and motivated team in an in-office work environment.

Cybersyn benefits:

  • Unlimited PTO
  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) - premiums are 100% covered
  • Monthly wellness stipend
  • 401k
  • Paid parental leave policy
  • FSA and commuter benefits
  • Dinners and Friday lunches are provided
