Eric Johannsen

VP of Engineering at Dama Financial

Eric Johannsen has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and IT operations. Eric began their career in 1999 as the CTO of Conneq, a company that provided an email communication platform for medium-to-large enterprises. Conneq was named Startup of the Year by the San Diego Small Business Council. In 2001, Eric became a self-employed software developer, and in 2002 they became a software architect at IBS Interprit. At IBS Interprit, Eric brought Model Driven Architecture (MDA) to the company.

In 2007, Eric co-founded Canonic Corp. In 2008, they became the Director of IT at SpeedTax, where they built a software development team to commercialize a proof-of-concept SaaS-based, real-time sales and use tax calculation product. From 2010 to 2012, Eric was the VP of Engineering at BlueCava, where they built and led a top engineering team developing cutting-edge device fingerprinting technology.

In 2019, Eric authored C# 8.0 in a Nutshell. In 2020, they became the VP of Engineering at GrowFlow, where they were responsible for architectural and business strategy for key components, select and implement devops improvements, and manage direct reports. GrowFlow was later acquired by Dama Financial, where Eric currently serves as the VP of Engineering. At Dama Financial, Eric is responsible for software development and IT operations for all product lines.

Eric Johannsen attended UC San Diego from 1984 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
