Chris Sellers

Engineering Manager at Databento

Chris Sellers has over 13 years of professional work experience. In 2021, they are currently the Engineering Manager at Databento, a Boston based fintech startup. In this role, they are the backend technical lead for historical streaming, batch data system, and servers supporting the user portal. Chris is also responsible for several senior engineers and the mentoring of several junior engineers. Prior to this, they were the Founder & CEO of Nautech Systems, a Sydney based technology company focusing on algorithmic trading solutions. In 2017, they were the Architect & Lead Developer at Invariance Pte Limited, a Singapore based investment firm which focuses on building systematic FX trading strategies using Machine Learning techniques. From 2008-2015, they were a Pilot at Qantas.

Chris Sellers has a diverse educational background. Chris obtained a Master of Science in Technology from UNSW in 2009, majoring in Aviation Management. In 2018, they completed a Machine Learning course from Coursera and a Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in the same year. In 2019, they obtained a Certified C# Programming (70-483) certification from Microsoft and a Artificial Intelligence for Trading (Nanodegree) certification from Udacity. In 2020, they obtained a Deep Reinforcement Learning (Nanodegree) certification from Udacity and a Data Structures and Algorithms (Nanodegree) certification from Udacity. Chris is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science - BSc in Computer Science at the University of Sydney, which they deferred in 2021.
