Liang Ma has extensive work experience in various research roles. From 2020 to the present, they have worked at Dataminr as a Senior Research Scientist, specializing in AI. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2020, they worked at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center as a Research Staff Member. In 2013, Liang had a research internship at IBM, and in 2012, they had another research internship at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Liang also had research internships at Microsoft Research Asia in 2009, Ericsson (China) Telecommunications in 2008, and DOCOMO Beijing Lab in 2007. At DOCOMO Beijing Lab, Liang focused on the development of novel multicast schemes for the MAC layer of the IEEE 802.11 standards, proposing EIA and its extended algorithms for QoS improvement, and conducting simulation work using OPNET 11.5 and the debugging tool in Visual Studio.
Liang Ma completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications from 2003 to 2007. From 2007 to 2010, they pursued a Master of Science degree in the same field at the same institution. Liang Ma then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London, studying from 2010 to 2014.
