Jamie Gillenwater Uxc, Cptc

Jamie Gillenwater has extensive work experience in technical writing and documentation. They are currently serving as a Product Documentation Manager at DataStax since September 2021, where they lead a team of technical writers in creating documentation for various software products, including open-source and on-premise tools. They have also been involved in new documentation site initiatives and have facilitated collaboration with different teams within the company.

Prior to their current role, Jamie worked as a Senior Technical Writer at DataStax from March 2019 to September 2021, contributing to the creation and maintenance of documentation for products related to database monitoring and performance optimization. They utilized DITA and GitHub for their documentation work and collaborated with product managers and engineers.

Before joining DataStax, Jamie was the cofounder of CPTC Training, a platform designed to assist technical communicators in preparing for the Certified Professional Technical Communicator exam. They launched this initiative in May 2018 and continue to be involved with it.

Additionally, Jamie worked as a Technical Writing and Training Consultant at Transcend Text, LLC from July 2013 to March 2019. They also held the position of Technical Writer at VMware from November 2018 to February 2019 and Global Documentation Specialist at Capsugel from March 2008 to July 2013.

Jamie's earlier career includes a brief role as an Instructor at Lander University in November 2012 and as a Graphic Designer/Customer Service Representative at Glasgow Printmasters from August 2007 to March 2008.

Jamie Gillenwater's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Applied Emphasis from Lander University, which was obtained between the years 2004 and 2009. They also studied Information Design & Communication at Southern Polytechnic State University. Additionally, Jamie has obtained various certifications, including a UX Certification with an Interaction Design Specialty from the Nielsen Norman Group in November 2020. They also have certifications such as CPTC Foundation Certification Trainer and Certified Professional Technical Communicator - Foundation from APMG International in July and April of 2016, respectively. Other certifications acquired include Six Sigma Green Belt from Capsugel in June 2012, CTT+ Classroom Trainer from CompTIA in May 2012, and InDesign CS5 Adobe Certified Expert from Adobe Systems, Inc., also in May 2012.
