Hybrid Cloud Support Engineer at DataStax

Ken Nordquist has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Ken started their career at Wharton Smith as a Computer Services Manager, where they supported hardware and software needs for over 100 users and implemented network-wide security measures. Ken then moved on to eSchool Solutions as a Systems Architect and Network Administrator, providing technical expertise for network design and maintenance.

Ken later worked at myOnlineNeighborhood as a Systems Architect and Development Manager, overseeing a portfolio of 400+ community websites. Ken implemented bug tracking and version control systems, and managed a team of four developers. Ken then joined Community Gems as a Systems Architect and Developer, where they provided full-stack LAMP support and developed a custom PHP Content Management System.

Ken's next position was at Earthlink, where they served as a Web Services Manager. Ken managed a team of 4 developers and was responsible for a PHP-based threat prevention website and a Java-based service that updated an anti-phishing toolbar. At Izea, they worked as a Senior Developer and led the design and development of a RESTful financial service for Izea's SocialSpark application.

Ken also worked at Embanet+Compass as a Web Services Manager, handling a portfolio of 200+ e-learning websites and reducing the turnaround time for website creation. At TravelClick, they held the role of Director of Application Development and was responsible for various projects, including the design and implementation of a greenfield SOA project and the migration of a data center.

In their most recent role at DataStax, Ken served as a Support Engineer. Throughout their career, they have taken on leadership roles, managed teams, and led initiatives to increase code coverage and improve messaging platforms.

Ken Nordquist attended the UCF College of Business from 1986 to 2007, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with a focus on Management Information Systems. Ken has not yet completed their degree as of 2007. In addition to their education, Ken has obtained several certifications over the years. In 2015, they became a Certified Developer on Apache Cassandra from DataStax. In 2014, they earned a certificate in "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" from Coursera Verified Certificates. Lastly, in 2007, they obtained the Certified ScrumMaster certification from ScrumAlliance.
