The role:

Senior Analytic Engineers at Datatonic work on various types of engagements involving the Modern Data Stack. They bring their expertise on our technologies of choice: dbt, Looker,  Snowflake, BigQuery, Google Cloud. They lead engagements with our clients, working hand-in-hand with the Delivery Manager while supporting the team and contributing to the code when necessary.

You will work alongside:

+ BI Analysts: Responsible for designing, building and maintaining analytics solutions, with a primary focus on business unit-specific data marts, self-service data models, and building front-end analytical visualisations/reports (typically Looker), and training business users.

+ Architects: Responsible for designing the solution and data architectures. data architects design the end-to-end business intelligence solutions with a focus on designing the most optimal data model and architecture solution.

+ Data Engineers: Responsible for building applications which connect systems, collect data, process that data into a useful format. Often this data is ‘big’ and requires distributed frameworks to move and process. A data engineer is a key cog in a data platform as they look after the acquisition of data for analytics, and connecting the output of analytics to operational systems.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in a data role (Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, a modern Data Warehouse like Snowflake or BigQuery and Kimball modeling
  • Natural ability to manage multiple initiatives and clients
  • Proficiency in writing analytical SQL and understanding of the difference between SQL that works, and performant SQL
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience in managing small teams and general passion for line management 
  • Complete alignment with our culture of transparency, empathy, accountability and performance

  • dbt Developer certification
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
  • Snowflake's Snowpro Certification
  • Experience with Scrum Methodology

 

Your core goals as an Senior Analytics Engineer are:

  • Build the foundation on top of which our analytics and data science teams will build innovative, impactful solutions with our clients;
  • Help our clients migrate existing business intelligence and data warehouse solutions to Google Cloud;
  • Design and build brand new data warehouse & data mart solutions for our clients;
    •      Transforming, testing, deploying, and documenting data
    •      Understand data modelling techniques
    •      Understand optimisation and storage for warehouse technology
  • Work closely with our tech partners: Google Cloud, Snowflake, dbt and Looker, in understanding their tech inside out and forming a network with their engineers
  • Work in an agile and dynamic environment together with our data engineers, BI analysts, data scientists, and machine learning experts.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to analytics; version control, testing and continuous integration.
