Job description

We are seeking a Planning and Performance lead to drive the creation and refinement of DEEP’s project management processes and governance framework, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.  The Planning and Performance Lead is a critical role that has overall ownership of the integrated portfolio plan, owns the quality of the programme performance data and is responsible for development of the infrastructure to support Programme execution at DEEP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrated Planning: Develop, maintain, and report upon an integrated plan across the portfolio, collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to establish and support an effective framework.
  • Governance Framework and Infrastructure Management: Oversee the infrastructure and systems that support project and programme execution, including system configuration and user training.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive reporting packs on a fortnightly or monthly basis to provide insights and track progress.
  • Resource and Capacity Management: Facilitate effective resource allocation, capacity planning, budget management, and risk mitigation across all projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the continuous enhancement and alignment of systems and processes across departments, ensuring seamless project and programme management.
  • Data and Reporting Support: Support Project and Programme Managers by providing improved data and reporting, utilising historical data and modelling techniques to enhance future performance.
  • Change Management: Oversee change management processes, ensuring robust stakeholder engagement and communication.
  • Line Management: There is opportunity in the future for this role to include leading a team.

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience leading complex planning activities working with budgets of £100M+
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in a Programme Office, PMO or similar – particularly in the setup phases of the PMO.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Project and interfacing MS Project with other systems
  • SAP knowledge beneficial.
  • A patient mindset with strong influencing skills and a talent for training people.
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced startup or scaleup in a safety critical environment.
  • A Project Management qualification such as PMI, APM or Prince2 would be an advantage
