Kristy Padron has extensive experience in the field of librarianship. Kristy began their career in 2005 as an Assistant University Librarian at the University of West Florida, where they focused on planning information literacy initiatives, coordinating library instruction sessions, and assessing library instruction goals. In 2008, they moved to Florida Atlantic University as an Assistant University Librarian, where they provided reference consultations, participated in collection development activities, and conducted library instruction sessions for various departments. In 2013, Kristy joined Miami Dade College as a College Librarian, where they served on a collection development committee and maintained library collections. Kristy returned to Florida Atlantic University in 2015, taking on the role of Associate University Librarian, Instruction and Engagement Services. In this role, they promoted instructional services, provided information services, and conducted library instruction sessions and workshops. Most recently, Kristy worked as a Scholarly Communication Librarian at Florida Atlantic University, developing and managing initiatives, coordinating scholarly communication responsibilities, and evaluating open access initiatives and other tools.
Kristy Padron obtained a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University, which they pursued from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, they attended Michigan State University from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and English. In 1991 to 1993, Kristy Padron attended Grand Rapids Community College, where they obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Besides their formal education, Kristy Padron also obtained a certification in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) from the CITI Program in July 2021.
