Gilles Erkens

Principal Researcher Subsidence at Deltares

Gilles Erkens has extensive experience in geological research, currently serving as a principal researcher in subsidence at Deltares since August 2011. Concurrently, Gilles Erkens holds the position of senior researcher and adjunct assistant professor at Utrecht University, where involvement spans from December 2003 to the present, including roles as a post-doctoral researcher and PhD-candidate. Previous positions include researcher at TNO - Geological Survey of The Netherlands for a brief period in 2010 to 2011, and field employee for groundwater monitoring at Waternet in 2003. Earlier research experience includes an internship at Rijkswaterstaat-RIKZ and a research assistant role at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Gilles Erkens obtained a Master of Science in Physical Geography with a focus on Quaternary Geology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, following education at Het Amsterdams Lyceum.
