Rachel Houghton

Rachel Houghton currently serves as Chief People Officer at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts since October 2023. Prior to this role, Rachel held the position of General Manager at Services Australia from August 2020 to October 2023 and was involved with the APS Workforce Management Taskforce at the Australian Public Service Commission for a brief tenure in 2020. Additionally, Rachel worked as Deputy Commissioner of Shared Services at the Australian Taxation Office earlier in 2020 and spent nearly 17 years in various roles at the Australian Border Force. Rachel's educational background includes a Master of Public Administration from ANZSOG, an Honours degree in Psychology from The University of Queensland, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the same institution. Recent professional development includes engagement with the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership in September 2023.
