Bill Kyriakopoulos

Bill Kyriakopoulos is the current Deputy Secretary for Service Delivery Reform, Coordination & Workplace Safety at the Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria, Australia. Bill has held various communications and media roles in both the public and private sector over the past 13 years.

Kyriakopoulos began their career in 2007 as a Senior Media Adviser for the Office of the Premier of Victoria. In this role, they provided strategic communications advice to the Premier and senior ministers on a range of issues including law and order, education, health, and transport.

In 2010, Kyriakopoulos took on a Senior Media Adviser role with the Federal Government of Australia under Treasurer Chris Bowen. Bill remained in this role until 2013, when they transitioned to the private sector as a Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs for National Australia Bank (NAB).

At NAB, Kyriakopoulos was responsible for leading the development and implementation of corporate affairs strategies to protect and enhance the bank’s reputation. Bill also managed a team of communication professionals and oversaw media relations, issues management, and crisis communications.

In 2016, Kyriakopoulos returned to the public sector as the Chief Communications Officer for the Department of Treasury and Finance in Victoria. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to support the department’s policies and initiatives. Bill also managed a team of communication professionals and oversaw media relations, issues management, and digital communications.

Bill Kyriakopoulos attended Deakin University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Journalism.

Bill Kyriakopoulos reports to Rebecca Falkingham, Secretary. They work with Jenni Rigby - Acting Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive, Emergency Management Victoria, Peta McCammon - Deputy Secretary, Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety, and Ryan Phillips - Deputy Secretary, Corrections and Justice Services.
