Operations Team Lead - Plans And Programs at U.S. Department of State

Darren Manning has significant work experience in both the U.S. Department of State and the US Army. Darren began their career in the US Army in 1998 as a Patriot Missile Operator, serving until 2002. Darren then worked as a Civil Affairs Specialist until 2004. In 2009, Darren joined the U.S. Department of State as a Program Manager, specializing in Humanitarian Demining and Conventional Weapons Destruction. Darren held this position until 2014, when they transitioned to become a Senior African Security Affairs Policy and Programs Officer. Most recently, Darren has been working at the U.S. Department of State as an Operations Team Lead, overseeing the continuous improvement of program, finance, contract, and grant processes. Darren also manages a team of over 30 support staff members.

Darren Manning holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Relations and Affairs from Texas A&M University, which they obtained from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and International Relations at the University of Delaware between 2002 and 2007. In addition to their academic education, they have also obtained certifications in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in 2020 and Certification for Contracting Officer's Representatives Level III (FAC-COR) from the U.S. Department of State in 2014.
