Jim Thompson currently serves as a Program Officer for the U.S. Department of State, focusing on nonproliferation capacity-building efforts related to the Foundational Infrastructure for the Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology and Science Centers programs. Previously, Jim held the position of Director of Partnerships within the U.S. Department of State, where leadership was provided on various assistance initiatives, including those aimed at Ukraine and combating fentanyl. Jim's extensive experience includes roles as Deputy Group Chief at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Director of Partnerships and Global Engagement at the National Security Council, and Director for Private Sector Engagement at the U.S. Department of State. Academic qualifications include a Master of Arts in Political Studies from The University of Auckland and a BA in International Relations from Saint Joseph's University.
