Laurel Heflin

Laurel Heflin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and organizational performance across various government agencies. As a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research since May 2021, Laurel leads DEIA efforts and represents INR at various councils and forums. Previously, Laurel held a Program Manager position at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, overseeing the Diversity Agent Recruitment program and the Cross Cultural Mentoring and Sponsorship Program. Earlier in the career, Laurel managed performance programs at the Maryland Department of Transportation and served as a Senior Research Associate at Salisbury University, contributing significant expertise in research, performance management, and workforce inclusion. Laurel holds an MBA and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Salisbury University, along with a Master's degree in Ethnic, Cultural Minority, Gender, and Group Studies from the University of Louisville.
