Wally Boeve serves as the Dean of Des Moines University’s College of Health Sciences. He joined DMU in 2020, extending his successful career as a practicing physician assistant and an academician.
Prior to his leadership role at DMU, he served as the founding Program Director and Professor in the Physician Assistant master’s program at Bethel University in Minnesota. Earlier, he served as department chair and program director of physician assistant studies in the College of Health Professions at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
His clinical work has included urgent care as a PA with experience in rural family medicine, occupational medicine, , and inpatient psychiatry.
Dr. Boeve is committed to medical missions. He has done extensive travels for medical education, patient care, as well as other humanitarian efforts. He has partnered with several mission and educational agencies while serving in Liberia, Kenya, Ghana, China, India, England, and Mexico.
Dean Boeve has also served in health-related activities in state and national PA leadership positions. He has also served as a past president of the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants and worked on the executive board for the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants.
During his career, he assisted in a number of lab courses, as well as co-instructed evidence-based medicine courses, while serving as a faculty mentor/chair for several student master’s theses and dissertations.
He earned his B.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences at Grand Valley State University and his M.S. degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Baylor College of Medicine. He earned his Ed.D. degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
