Wim Leers

Wim Leers has extensive work experience in software engineering and development, specifically in Drupal. Wim began their career as a Freelance Drupal Developer for Wimsical from June 2007 to May 2012. In 2004, they founded the open-source project DriverPacks.net, which they worked on until January 2018.

Leers also had an internship as a Software Engineer at Facebook from September 2011 to December 2011. During this time, they worked on their master's thesis, analyzing web performance data for the Site Speed team.

Since 2012, Leers has worked at Acquia, starting as a Senior Software Engineer in the Office of the CTO and later promoted to Principal Software Engineer in the same department. Wim played a key role in the migration of Drupal 7 to Drupal 8/9, contributing patches to the community and leading the engineering of Acquia Migrate: Accelerate. Currently, they are working on architecting an upgrade path for Drupal.

Wim Leers completed their education with a Master's degree in Computer Science (specialization Databases) from UHasselt in 2012. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree with honors in Computer Science from UHasselt in 2009. Wim also studied Latin-Math at Virga-Jesse College from 2004 to 2006 and at Ursula-Instituut from 2000 to 2004.
