Leo Wehseler has held various engineering and management roles throughout their work experience. Leo started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. where they contributed to design changes and improved quality and efficiency on the refuse truck production line. Leo then worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Sandvik, where they led the engineering department and implemented improvements in quality, efficiencies, and processes in a precision tool and die manufacturing setting.
Leo also worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Columbia Gear Corporation, providing shop floor support on manufacturing processes and designing fixtures and tooling. At C4 Welding, Inc., they served as a Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Lead, overseeing plant layout, capital investments, and implementing procedural changes to reduce engineering processing time and improve accuracy. Leo also introduced basic engineering metrics for departmental accountability.
Leo's experience in management includes roles such as Engineering Manager at Sandvik, where they communicated with domestic and international coworkers, vendors, and customers on manufacturing best practices and led the engineering department in improving quality and processes. Leo also worked as an Operations and Engineering Manager at Sunset Manufacturing, where they managed a sheet metal fabrication facility and implemented modifications to increase throughput and improve workflow.
Currently, Leo is working at DeZURIK, Inc. as an Engineering Manager in Product Development. Leo leads a team of engineers and designers in the redesign and development of entire product lines and new products. Leo collaborates and coordinates with various departments, as well as outside engineering services and vendors from different countries.
Throughout their career, Leo has demonstrated strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a focus on improving processes and achieving measurable results.
Leo Wehseler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, they obtained their Engineer in Training certification from the ND PELS (North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors). Leo then pursued further education in the field of Ministry, enrolling in the Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary. Leo is currently working towards a Master of Arts degree in Ministry, which they expect to complete in 2023. Leo's commitment to professional development is evident through their acquisition of the Engineer in Training certification from the Minnesota Board of AELSLAGID in 2022 and the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification from the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board in 2021.
