James Ellis has a diverse work experience spanning over 10 years. James began their career in 2008 as a Sub-Contractor/Carpenter's Assistant at Raney Custom Construction and Remodeling. In 2009, they worked as a Summer Field Intern at Orion Pipeline. The following year, they returned to Orion Pipeline as a Facilities Intern. In 2011, James completed a Summer Roustabout Internship at ACME Oilfield Service Company.

In 2013, James joined Halliburton as an Associate Technical Professional. Over the course of their tenure at Halliburton, they held multiple roles, including Technical Professional and Senior Technical Professional. In these positions, James worked as an account representative, bidding out jobs and building proposals. James also attended meetings with customers to discuss job design changes and associated costs. Additionally, they tracked market changes and evaluated costs compared to competitors. James became a Personnel Development Coordinator for Frac Engineer's, where they redesigned field training programs, conducted audits, and interviewed potential new hires.

Most recently, James worked at Diamondback Energy Inc as a Senior Completions Engineer. In this role, they managed daily operations, monitored for efficiencies, and maximized productivity. James also managed supplier performance and costs, reconciling invoices to projected project costs in real-time.

James Ellis obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. James attended the university from 2008 to 2013.
