John K. Cook

John K. Cook has over 12 years of work experience in the field of privacy, policy, and strategy. John K. began their career in 2009 as the President and CEO of Cook Strategies LLC, where they provided program/project management and strategic planning in COOP, emergency communications, IT, intergovernmental relations, and mitigation within DHS, FEMA, and the Department of Energy (DOE). In 2008, they became a FEMA Reservist/Community Relations Specialist and Small State and Rural Advocate, a role for which they were Presidentially Designated. From 2013 to 2015, they held various roles at eGlobalTech, FEMA, Computer Technologies Consultants Inc., and Copper River Information Technology, LLC, including Senior Privacy Lead/Privacy Compliance Subject-Matter Expert, Cyber Security Resiliency Team, Deputy Program Manager, Senior Privacy Analyst (Subject-Matter Expert), and Subject Matter Expert, Privacy Program Support. In 2016, they joined TechOp Solutions International as a Senior Privacy Subject-Matter Expert, and in 2020 they became the Privacy Practice Manager at Business Integra Inc. John K. is currently employed at Dignari, LLC as a Privacy/Policy/Strategy Subject-Matter Expert, and is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, a role they have held since 2014.

John K. Cook received a B.A. in Communications from Baylor University in 1987, an M.S. Ed. in Educational Psychology from Baylor University in 1990, and a Ph.D. in Higher Educ. Administration, Public Policy from Texas A&M University in 2000. In 2014, they obtained a Certified Information Privacy Professional, Government Sector (CIPP/G) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
