Brian MacDonald

Brian MacDonald has a diverse and extensive work experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Brian is currently serving as the Chief Innovation Officer at Disc Medicine since October 2021. Prior to this role, they held the position of Senior Advisor and Director at the same company since February 2020. From October 2017 to February 2020, Brian was the Founder and CEO of Disc Medicine.

Before joining Disc Medicine, Brian founded and served as CEO of Dodeca Therapeutics Inc., a position they held from March 2017 to October 2017. Prior to that, they founded and served as CEO of Merganser Biotech Inc. from September 2011 to July 2016.

Brian also has experience as the CEO of Zelos Therapeutics from October 2005 to September 2011. Earlier in their career, they held the role of Head of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Tetralogic in 2004. From 2002 to 2003, Brian served as Vice President, Development at 3-Dimensional Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Brian also worked as the Group Director, Emerging Therapeutic Areas at GSK from 2000 to 2002.

Brian MacDonald received their education from The University of Sheffield between 1978 and 1987. During this time, they pursued a degree in Medicine, Cell Biology and successfully obtained an MB, ChB, PhD.
